Vector Health International, a mosquito net manufacturing unit, located in Arusha will send its employees to Vietnam to receive training in the process of textile manufacturing. These workers will be sent in batches of 90 each as part of an expansion plan to increase production of mosquito nets.

Vector Health International employs around 6,500 workers and is one of the biggest industrial employers in Tanzania, of which around 1,700 have been provided accommodation. The textile mill is mainly involved in the production of mosquito nets

This unit was set up in early 2008, is a joint venture between Sumitomo Chemical of Japan and A to Z Textiles and has a production capacity to manufacture 65,000 mosquito bed-nets daily, 90 per cent of which are exported to other countries.

The mosquito net is manufactured by a process called, Olyset, which is a long-lasting insecticidal net (LLIN) and is a crucial tool in the fight against malaria – and the only WHO-recommended LLIN manufacturing facility in Africa.
