President values textile & footwear sectors' achievements

President Mr. Nguyen Minh Triet appreciated the textile and leather-footwear sectors' achievements in maintaining market and export value.
The President cited the two industries as sensitive industries, since they get affected due to the change in world economic environment.
As the two sectors employ around 2 million workers, a large part of country's labour force, the sectors are clearly impacted by these changes, said the President, who was speaking at the reception for 79 outstanding firms from the two sectors.
He further added that both these sectors have improved management capacity in production, business and marketing, as well as they quickly learned to take steps to fulfill customers' requirements and give priority to the local market.
The Vietnam Garment and Textile Association has been joining forces with the Sai Gon Economic Times, since 2004, in a bid to select outstanding companies in the garment and textile sector, and this year they joined hands with Vietnam Leather and Footwear Association.
