Buyers for China were dominant, followed by buyers for India and Taiwan with another stronger presence of buyers for Europe.
Sales will be held in Sydney, Melbourne and Fremantle next week, when 51,800 bales are currently rostered for sale. The present estimate for the following sale is 42,170 (Week25), an increase of 11.7% over the two sale period when compared with last year. Sales are in a three week recess from Week 26 and resume in Week 29 (week commencing 11 January 2010).
In South African sales, the Cape Wools Indicator was down by 1.5% since last week against a 1.3% appreciation of the Rand against the US Dollar and a 0.9% appreciation against the Euro. 10,994 bales were on offered for sale.
