We are trying for duty-free access – Commerce Minister

While inaugurating a trade fair, Commerce Minister, Mr Faruk Khan said, “The government is trying to get duty-free access to the international markets for shipments of ready-made garments to boost exports."

The three-day long "2nd Knit+tex Bangladesh 2009 International Expo" opened on Thursday with an objective to view to introduce the latest technology and machinery to the apparel manufacturers of the country.

He added by saying that the expo would provide a platform for business deals with foreign buyers and leading local manufacturers and exporters and assured everyone that the government would look into the matter of yarn price hike.

The exposition which has been co-organised by BKMEA and Conference & Exhibition Management Service (CEMS) has 76 companies from 15 countries is showcasing a wide range of industrial machinery meant for knitwear manufacturing.
