In recent days, India and China have announced intention to explore matches between automobiles and textiles. Likewise, the Taiwan Textile Industry Promotion office has also begun exploring opportunities and has started organising a textiles-automobiles industry alliance.
The textile-automobile industry alliance aims to stimulate the textile sector in to innovating and developing products with applications in the overall transportation sector, by networking with international industry and professional organizations.
The alliance members from both the sectors are mostly made up from members of the Taiwan transportation Vehicle MFRS Association, Technical Textile Association and Nonwoven Textile Association. These members will focus on products related to interiors of automobiles.
According to IFAI classification, transportation textile is one of twelve segments of technical textiles. Taiwan Textile Industry Promotion office is going to hold an international technical textiles symposium. The theme will focus on transportation textiles and its relative technologies.
Topics may include subjects like needled fabric for filtration and emission control, nonwovens application for car boot (trunk) claddings, padding for luggage compartments, mudguards, shelves and ceilings. The functional technologies may include application at sound reducers, mufflers, gaskets and seals and battery separators.
