Handloom and handicraft products could offer economic independence to the people in the state of Manipur as these products witness great demand in and outside the state as well as abroad, said the Lok Sabha member, Dr T. Meinya during inaugural ceremony of a 10-day Crafts Fair organized by Social Environment Economic Development Society (SEEDS) and sponsored by the Ministry of DONER.

A proper place to market various domestic products could stabilize the economy of Manipur, and a marketing-cum-exhibition centre like the Pragati Maidan in New Delhi should be set up in the state, underlined the MP. Besides, organizing trade fairs at regular intervals will help to enhance the productivity and marketing of different domestic handloom and handicraft products in and outside the state.

The 10-day Crafts Fair, which will end on January 10, encompasses 55 stalls displaying variety of handloom and handicraft products along with health-care and fitness products.
