Of the two major textile mills planned to be set up in southwest Louisiana for production of cotton yarn, construction work of the first one has been completed whereas the second mill is due for completion. This has been ranked amongst the major investments in cotton processing, that Louisiana has witnessed since decades.

The two mills combined have been set up at an investment of US $75 million by Zagis USA, which was found by North Carolina textile executives and Grupo Zaga, one of Mexico's most successful industrial groups.

Setting up the mills in southwest Louisiana, guarantees Zagis USA, minimum cost of production of yarn not only locally but also at a global scale, due to better availability of raw material, vicinity of ports accompanied by strategic freight lanes, low interest rates, state incentives and consistent power supply available at viable rates.

Traditionally, Louisiana used to export a major portion of its raw cotton in unprocessed form, but with the setting up of this project, Zagis mills will utilize almost 15 to 20 percent of this raw cotton for spinning cotton yarn in Louisiana itself.
