Dow Fiber Solutions, a business unit of The Dow Chemical Company, and Bengt Jacobsson will present concise information on the most important global trends shaping the future of fashion. The in-depth look into Spring/Summer 2011 will be the ninth consecutive presentation showcasing over 60 new fabrics from global textile mills all inspired by DOW XLA, the worlds first and only olefin-based stretch fiber.

Market research reveals both designers and consumers' desire to recharge their creative energy and explore new horizons after a demanding year and defines the Spring / Summer 2011 trend presentation's key theme, Back to Life. Inspired by seaside escapes from the United States' East coast to the Mediterranean, Back to Life is expressed in four key trends: Baltic Breeze, Atlantic Shores, Mediterranean Cruise and Pacific Sunset.

Baltic Breeze: Soft natural colors and light neutrals reflect the Nordic light in the spring. Imagine untouched coastlines, wild forests and green meadows where people live an eco-friendly lifestyle in perfect harmony with nature. Natural fibers such as cotton, linen and wool are combined with DOW XLA fiber to create casual wear fabrics. Collarless shirting, tunics and recycled cargo pants made with cotton/wool/XLA fiber blends are important to give the garment soft yet simple structures.

Atlantic Shores: Casual meets chic, both in attitude and fashion on the east coast. Still close to the bustling cities the friendly coast towns are quaint with cobble stone streets. People wear nautical and preppy inspired sportswear that is washed and sun-bleached as they bike or take their sailboats out to sea. Lightweight cotton and cotton/polyamide garments in flannel, plaid, check and gingham get added stretch from XLA fiber making them the perfect choice while relaxing seaside.

Mediterranean Cruise: Picture yourself on a yacht getting comfortable as you smell the colorful fresh scents that evoke flowers, fruit sherbets and chilled drinks. This fashionably retro-flavored cruise starts in Saint Tropez and ends in the Greek Isles of Santorini. People are dressed to the nines in fancy ginghams, capri pants, sheer tunics and coordinated suiting patterns in linen, cotton and fine wool with the drape and fluidity from viscose and tencel with DOW XLA fiber for added comfort.

Pacific Sunset: This trend embodies vibrant and electric shades that reflect the colors of neon lights and the camera flashes of paparazzi. You exit LAX airport and head to the hottest hotel in Los Angeles before going to Sunset Boulevard to dance the night away with the fashionable, tanned and toned beautiful people. Get red carpet ready in body hugging stretch dresses or a super skinny suit with high stretch levels for fitted comfort. Cotton/polyamide/XLA fiber blends for shiny surface effects and soft drape to make each garment camera ready.

The trends for the Spring / Summer 2011 season highlight innovation and technology at its best with DOW XLA premium stretch fiber which enables consumers to experience unmatched fit, comfort and performance and allows brand owners to express their creative vision without the limitations typically posed by other stretch fibers.
