Mitsubishi Chemical Holdings Corp and Asahi Kasei Corp which had planned to integrate operations of their respective ethylene plants in Okayama Prefecture from April have been delayed.
Fibre2fashion spoke to Mr. Yorozu, Head of PR Department at Mitsubishi Chemical Holdings Corp who said, “We are still discussing about the integration of ethylene plants, hence delay is possible".
According to market sources the delay could last another six months. To bring our readers up-to-date both the companies had announced integration of operations of two plants located in the Okayama Prefecture.
The two petrochemical majors had made the announcement in April last year. The combined ethylene capacity of both plants is 890,000 tons and merger was planned to meet the glut in demand of derivatives of ethylene.
