Egypt, which is well-known for its long staple quality cotton, is targeting to export around 80,000 tons in the current cotton season ending in August 2010.
Egyptian cotton exporters till date have signed contracts to ship 70,000 tons of cotton of which 55,569 tons have already been dispatched, valued at US $124.46 million.
In the previous cotton season (2008-09) the country was able to export only 12,000 tons of the white gold due to a shortfall in production of the same.
