APTMA calls off strike later in the day

The All Pakistan Textile Mills Association (APTMA) had last week given a call for going on a strike from March 18, if their demands were not met.

Today as intended, the member's mills of APTMA went on a strike, but called off the strike later in the day, on receiving assurances from the President of Pakistan, Mr Zardari to jointly resolve the issues.

This was conveyed to fibre2fashion by Mr Anwar Ahmed Tata, President of APTMA.

APTMA had given the call for the strike, due to the cap put on exports of yarn by the government. The government had earlier capped yarn exports at 50 million kgs per month, but subsequently brought it down to 30 million kgs in March 2010.
