The 10-day Seoul Collection Fashion Show, featuring upcoming 2006 spring and summer season, will kick off in the capital city on Nov. 16.
AThe show will present a unique opportunity for local fashion designers to display their talents.
About 49 designers will present a collective presentation, some among them belong to Seoul Fashion Artists Association, New Wave in Seoul and the Korea Fashion Designer Association, while others are independent.
Excepting Michiko Koshino of Japan, while rest of them belong to Seoul.
“Starting out with the challenge of balancing the two sides of fashion - commercialism and creativity, we expect the 2006 S/S collection to be one emphasizing moderate simplicity while at the same time, elegant and mature feminist aspects,'' event organizer Korea Fashion Organization said through a press release.
Among the participants are a husband-and-wife team Andy & Debb to present design that are meant for free spirited women out for a leisurely day's fly-fishing.
Another traditional Korean attire designer Lee Young-hee will give a modern spin to Korean dresses with a variation of dying methods and embroidery styles.
Kang Hee-sook will present works in taffeta and silk in earthy tones, while Park Jong-chul of Sling Stone's traditional dress styles Israel, in a 58 pieces collection made up of body skimming tops and loose fitting lounge pants drawn from a variety of materials including linen, silk, denim and leather is expected to draw large crowds.
