Cotton fabric exports record exponential growth in 2009

China's exports of cotton fabrics increased significantly to 1.360 billion meters in 2009, up 34.33 percent and which amounted to $1.097 billion, also up by 44.76 percent. The average unit price touched $0.81 per meter, a rise of eight percent over 2008.

China's exports of cotton blended yarn-dyed fabrics totaled 367.19 million meters in 2009, with value amounting to US $536.49 million. The export volume was up by a marginal 0.57 percent, year on year.

Among them, exports of cotton blended yarn-dyed fabrics to Mexico, Bangladesh and Hong Kong achieved substantial growth year on year, reaching 18.98 percent, 13.97 percent and 8.88 percent, respectively.

When considering imports and exports of hemp fabrics, the same totaled to 249.03 million meters in 2009.

Of which import volume reached 30.04 million meters, the average unit price of imports was $2.35 per meter, export volume represented 218.99 million meters, and the average unit price of exports was $2.15 per meter.
