Latest yarn price hike – TEA members to go on fast

According to the Tirupur Exporters Association (TEA), the textile mills have from April 1, 2010 increased the yarn prices by Rs.17/- per Kg. from the yarn prices prevailing on 1st March 2010.
With this level of hike, exporters will not be able to survive and sustain in the global market, says TEA.
To register a protest against Tamilnadu Spinning Mills Association (TASMA) & The Southern India Mills' Association (SIMA), TEA members will go on a days fast on April 2, 2010, in front of TEA Building, 62, Appachi Nagar Main Road, Kongu Nagar, Tirupur.
This is being done as TASMA members are supplying 98% of yarn consumed by Tirupur knitwear units.
