Addressing a press conference, NVK Giridhar, Managing Director, Kozyflex Mattresses Pvt Ltd said that, they are establishing a unit worth Rs 50 million at Poosapatirega, Vizianagaram district.
It will bring curled coir from Srikakulam, Vizianagaram, Visakhapatnam and two other Godavari districts, which will prove helpful for the local farmers and consumers. The coir from AP is shipped to states like Kerala and West Bengal, while most others get wasted.
Giridhar stated that the production cost of a coir mattress is around Rs 1,600 and Kerala-based companies were selling these mattresses at Rs 3,200 each. He further added that, to establish their brand in the local market, they could reduce the selling prices by 35-40 percent.
The projected unit would offer direct employment to around 200 workers, particularly to women. Forty percent of the project cost is invested by the promoters while the remaining 60 percent is borrowed from banks.
