South Gujarat textile processors to hike rates

The 450 member strong, South Gujarat Textile Processors Association (SGTPA) has decided to increase job-work charges on fabric printing and processing by 10 percent from April 21, 2010.
Defending this decision of job-work rate hike, Mr Vipul Desai, Secretary of SGTPA, told fibre2fashion that, cost of raw materials, labour wages, dyes & chemicals, fuel and energy charges has drastically increased in past three months.
He continued by saying, “We were thinking of price hike since the last one and a half months, but were waiting for the correct time. Now we held an extraordinary general meeting and increased job charges by 10 percent from April 21".
Another decision taken at the meeting was to limit payment credit period to within 60 days, instead of the current norms of an unlimited period and for those who pay within 15 days, will be entitled to a three percent discount.
