No sign of rapid recovery for textile industry in 2010 - STF

The Swiss Textile Federation currently sees no urgent need for action aimed at harmonizing Switzerland's legislation on chemicals with the EU's REACH legislation (Registration, Evaluation and Authorisation of Chemicals). The right decisions for the future must also be taken in energy policy.

The Swiss Textile Federation advocates a climate-friendly energy supply at internationally competitive prices. It is also in favour of a review of the Federal Electricity Supply Act. Finally no further burden should be placed on the industry with regard to climate change policy after 2012 (post-Kyoto). Instead the main focus should be on the building and transport sectors.

Swiss Organic Fabrics
At the end of the Annual Media Conference, industry representatives showcased their successes in a number of short abstracts, featuring the new collective trademark “Swiss Organic Fabrics” and products based on the “cradle-to-cradle - principle”. The new collective trademark, which was registered as a national trademark in 2009, stands for the highest Swiss quality and guarantees a 100% Swiss made product.
