After receiving positive replies from the government for their demand, ginners associations across the country have postponed their indefinite strike. Ginners across the country had announced in the past to go on an indefinite strike, starting May 5, in objection to the government's move of banning fresh registrations of new cotton export contracts.

The ginners met government officials to put across our concerns and as it concerned farmers, they received positive response from them. As a result, the ginners decided not to go ahead with the strike.

Saurashtra Ginners Association (SGA) SGA had announced an indefinite strike starting May 5 as the government banned all new registrations of raw cotton exports so as to stabilize the increasing prices of the commodity.

The decision of withdrawing the strike came into effect after the commerce ministry assured the ginners an immediate action on the ban.

With the government permitting overseas sales of 1.25 million cotton bales that were registered prior to the ban, of which 1.2 million cotton bales will be shipped soon.

After discussions between the various ginners associations from various states across the country, future course of action will be decided upon.
