Mill demand remains strong

The mill demand remained strong during the week under report. Prices for cotton at hand from old and new crop remained firm and were paid despite weakness at the New York futures market. Prompt available varieties were restricted to the regions Central Asia and West Africa. Lively demand was again reported for fine and extra-fine cottons which were also purchased for later delivery.

In the Upland range sales were registered in Central Asian sorts for prompt delivery and through the end of the third quarter 2010; West African styles for the same period of time. Brazil cotton from the new crop was traded for the 3rd quarter 2010 and Greek descriptions for the 4th quarter 2010.

In the fine / extra-fine sector were traded: Egyptian GIZA 88 and Sudan Barakat for prompt; USA and Israel Pima, as well as Israel ACALPI for dates in the 1st quarter 2011.
