Closure of textile companies, affects thousands of lives

Irate workers of closed textile companies in Kaduna State staged a peaceful demonstration under the aegis of Coalition of Closed Textiles Workers of Nigeria (CCTWN) as more than 1,775 textile workers in the state lost their lives due to the ongoing dire economic conditions.
Protestants demanded to the Federal Government, an urgent release of N 100 billion textile revival funds and re-commencement of the textile factories of the country.
Comrade Wordam Simidik, Chairman of the Coalition of Nigerian Closed Textiles Workers said that, the President of the country will be informed that, owing to over eight-years of closure of textile industries, more than 1,775 workers have lost their lives and other workers and their families fail to meet their social, economic and financial responsibilities.
The workers are unable to send their children to school as they have no money to pay the school fees, also, these crises have turned daughters and wives belonging to the worker's family in to beggars, he lamented, emphasizing that, the current situation is not bearable for long as the absence of daily wage, due to industry closure, has taken its toll on the lives of thousands of workers.
