M Jawed Bilwani, Chairman, Pakistan Apparel Forum and Coordinator for the Value-Added Textile Forum, while addressing a press conference, which was held at the Pakistan Hosiery Manufacturers Association's office, expressed his gratitude in respect of the promise extended by the Prime Minister that, the government was firm to supply the textile sector with all the possible facilities and that, representatives from the textile sector would shortly be summoned to Islamabad for a dialogue with members of the Cabinet Committee on Textile, the State Minister for Economic Affairs and Adviser to the Prime Minister on Finance.

He also urged the Prime minister for choosing unbiased people as representatives in the Cabinet Committee on Textiles, so as to get a fair assessment and solution to the matter.

Although the spinners asserted of producing 240,000 tons of yarn per month, but in reality only 172,000 tons per month of yarn is manufactured, as the sector has a total of just 8.6 million spindles that are operational.
