Hanoi Craft Week 2010, titled 'A thousand years of quintessence', meant to re-kindle the conventional culture of the craft villages existing for over 1,000 years, is scheduled to take place at the Friendship Cultural Palace in Hanoi, during August 4 to 9.
The fair will be embracing a series of activities such as, an exhibition showcasing the craft industry goods, a seminar to study tourist prospective and growth of Hanoi handicraft villages and an introductory tour to craft villages in the city.
Also, there will be other activities such as a contest for designing a signature souvenir for splendidly commemorating the millennium anniversary of Thang Long –Hanoi.
The craft week will not only provide the firms with an opportunity to meet and share their experiences with other firm owners, but it will also help them to collaborate with their business associates during the event.
Visitors here will receive both, a view of the process for developing these handicrafts items, and a trial to produce such items on their own, while enjoying the performances that flaunt the ability of the craftsmen.
At present, Hanoi comprises of 1,220 craft villages, of which 256 have an age-old history of developing traditional crafts. Handicraft items, while sizeably contributing to the economic development of the city's handicraft industry, have also grown to be the most intense export group of Vietnam's capital city.
