In the past week, cotton prices continued to rise in Hebei, Shandong and Henan markets, decline in polyester staple fiber prices gradually slowed down and viscose fiber prices too displayed stability after a decline.

Cotton grade 229 index rose by 217 Yuan to 17,847 Yuan / ton and average of the week increased by 374 Yuan / ton compared with the previous week. Grade 328 index grew by 248 Yuan to 17,439 Yuan / ton.

Cotton grade 527 index ascended by 175 Yuan to 15,832 Yuan / ton at the weekend, up 230 Yuan per ton compared with the previous week.

Polyester staple fiber price continued to fall in the week, but the decline slowed down. Price of 1.4D × 38mm fell to 9,700 Yuan / ton, down by an average of 266 Yuan / ton from the previous week.

Viscose staple fiber price declined by 100 Yuan / ton in the week, 1.5D × 38mm fell to 18,850 Yuan / ton by the weekend.

Cotton mills were of the opinion that, recent procurement price of cotton has risen by about 1,000 Yuan over the first half of May. Cotton yarn prices also ascended by around 300-500 Yuan / ton from the previous week.

A larger increase in prices existed in combed yarns. Currently, mainstream prices of carded 32s ranged between 25,000-25,500 Yuan / ton. In addition, prices of some best selling cotton fabrics soared by 0.5 Yuan / meter.

Market source report that, currently rayon yarn demand from knitted fabric producers has reduced, while demand from woven fabric manufacturers is still fair. Price of R30s fell to 24,000-24,300 Yuan / ton.
