Fine/extra- fine cotton range in demand

Merchants´ reports characterized the demand by the local spinning mills as “quite busy”. Despite the high prices most cotton available was purchased.

There was however not too much left for prompt delivery. Namely the prompt supply and the 3rd quarter 2010 stood in focus of demand, but it was as well ordered from offers for new crop cotton. Particularly in the fine/extra- fine range the demand was good and purchases were also made for the 1st quarter 2011. The prices kept their high level because of scarce availability and the absence of offers from the origins.

In the medium staple range transactions were registered in Central Asian sorts for prompt and for the 3rd quarter 2010; West African types for prompt through 4th quarter 2010, Brazilian cotton for the 3rd quarter 2010, as well as Greek descriptions for prompt loading and through 1st quarter 2011.

From among the fine/extra-fine varieties were traded: Egyptian GIZA 88 for prompt and further in the 3rd quarter 2010, as well as for the 1st quarter 2011; Giza 86 for the 1st quarter 2011, Sudan Barakat for the 3rd quarter 2010; USA Pima and Israel Pima respectively for the 1st quarter 2011.
