Anti-dumping duty on Chinese high-strength polyester yarn

Recently the European Commission announced a preliminary ruling of imposing anti-dumping on high-strength polyester yarn made in China, on 11 enterprises exporting the same to the European Union.
Eight of the companies have been levied a temporary tariff of 8.9 percent, while three of the other enterprises have been imposed a temporary tariff of 9.3 percent, 7.7 percent and 8 percent, respectively.
In September last, the EU launched anti-dumping investigation on high-tenacity polyester yarn imported from China, Korea and Taiwan. 40 Chinese companies are involved in the case and the involved amount is more than US $100 million.
According to Chinese statistics, China exported about US $123.89 million of the involved products to Europe in 2008, representing a year-on-year increase of 33.15 percent. 11 Chinese exporters submitted information pertaining to the case.
The anti-dumping tax rate of the European Commission is for the preliminary ruling and according to the procedures of EU anti-dumping investigation and it is expected to issue the final verdict within six months.
