Call for industrial meeting on yarn prices & other issues

Shri.A.Sakthivel President said that he has sent a letter to Hon'ble Union Minister of Textiles Thiru. Dayanidhi Maran today requesting to call for a meeting with all stakeholders of textile industry on all India basis.
We are thankful to the Hon'ble Minister for taking various measures pragmatically to bailout the crisis ridden knitwear garment sector and always encouraging the exporters to explore the new markets and be ready to promote the exports. The textile industry has got real boost in the past one year due to the Hon'ble Minister's full attention for the development in domestic as well as in the international market.
We wish to make a note of it that with the existing level of cotton yarn prices, we are not in a position to quote competitive rates for our garments and get the orders from the foreign buyers, even from our longtime buyers. Our main apprehension is that once if the buyers resort to our competing countries to source garments, then it will be difficult to bring them back to Tirupur even when the cotton yarn prices will come down to normal rates.
In view of this, we request the Hon'ble Minister to call for a meeting with all stakeholders of textile industry on all India basis.
To discuss and finalise the yarn prices and other issues.
To form a committee consisting of representatives from all stakeholders of textile industry from all India basis mainly to meet, take stock of the situation and decide the cotton yarn prices in line with the prevailing cotton prices once in two months.
To seek advice from the Hon'ble Minister and deliberate for enhancing the growth of garment exports, as the garment growth is still clocking negative.
In this connection, we request the Hon'ble Minister to call for a meeting at a convenient date to the Hon'ble Minister at the earliest.
