"2010 Innovation Conference of Textile and Garment industry Chain" was recently held in Fuzhou in Fujian province, China. Industry representatives from Taiwan and China gathered to discuss innovation in textile and garment industry chain.

Secretary-General of Taiwan Textile Federation Huang Weiji said, “Once the cross-strait economic cooperation framework agreement (ECFA) is in force, trade between the two countries will receive a boost and both sides will have broad areas of cooperation in intellectual property and D&R design of textile products.

Executive Director of New Wide Group, Taiwan, Huang Guan-Hua said, “Future competition of textile industry is the competition of supply chain, the industry should transform from current "manufacturing" into "manufacturing service."

He explained, in addition to providing customers with products, the company could also participate in product design, conduct pre-market analysis, provide customers with quality services and it is only by this way that it will be able to survive competition.

Vice Governor of Fujian Li Chuan said, innovation is the key to success in the textile industry and is the power source of industrial development. Textile and garment industries are traditional industries in China and it will be difficult for industries to stand at high-end of the industrial chain without innovation.

To promote technological innovation in the chain is the important force to speed up the development of textile and garment industries and it is also the necessary requirement to change the way of economic development, he added by saying.

"2010 Innovation Conference of Textile and Apparel Industry Chain ", co-sponsored by the Ministry of Industry and Information, People's Government of Fujian Province and China Textile Industry Association, attracted nearly 500 delegates from China and Taiwan.
