Value-added of chemical sector posts double-digit growth

According to statistics released by the National Bureau of Statistics, the value-added output of the chemical industry in China rose 17.3 percent year-on-year in April this year, 6.7 percent higher than a year earlier.
In the period January to April, the value-added output of the chemical industry grew 21.4 percent from the period a year ago, 15.3 percent higher than a year earlier.
In the month of April, production of soda ash increased by 3.5 percent and caustic soda increased 22.1 percent. In the first four months of 2010 soda ash rose 19 percent to 6.92 million tons and caustic soda grew by 22.4 percent to 6.73 million tons, year-on-year.
