TEVTA to commence DAE for new courses

A three-year course in Diploma in Associate Engineering (DAE) in Sugar, Textile and Computer Information Technology at the Government Polytechnic Institute (GPI), Kamalia tehsil, Punjab province, has been declared by the Technical Education and Vocational Training Authority (TEVTA). The course will commence from September 2010.

Machinery or equipments have also been purchased and the same will be installed before the onset of the course in September 2010. For the Phase-II revised scheme, Rs 127.520 million has been set aside, in order to fill up the deficit to purchase equipments or machinery for sugar and textile technology.

DAE in Electronics, Dress Designing & Making (DDM) and Computer Information are other subjects in which courses are due to commence at the Government Polytechnic Institute for Women, Narowal, also from September 2010. This institute is going to be developed under the Annual Development Program (ADP) for which an amount of Rs 168.579 million has been set aside.

It was also announced that all important arrangements had been done to commence the new initiative and around 150 students will be admitted in each technology. This decision was made during a meeting of the Development Committee of Technical Education and Vocational Training Company (TEVTC).

While study and training of technologies commenced post discussions with the domestic industry, GPI building in Kamalia was added, in to this project only during its last stage.
