During the last two months, Iran shipped $56 million worth of carpets, informed Head of Iran's National Carpet Centre, Feysal Mardasi, after referring to the statistics on carpet exports. The same was revealed during a press conference, during the 5th Festival of Iran's Precious Carpets.
The export markets of Iranian carpets are mainly, Italy, Germany, UK, France, Spain, Switzerland, US and Canada as well as the UAE, Kuwait, Russia, Ukraine and Japan, noted Mardasi, further adding that, next year by March 20, country will export carpets worth of around $500 million.
Exhibition of Iranian finest hand-woven carpets is going on at Tehran's Sa'd Abad Cultural Complex, from July 6 to 16, wherein, the art of domestic carpet weavers is also included. This ten-day exhibition has been set as an opportunity for visitors to have a glimpse of tribal and nomadic tents as well as to attend Kilim and carpet weaving workshops.
Iranian carpets are shipped to over 100 countries of the World. Carpet-weaving is one of the most distinguished signatures of Persian culture and art. Around 1.2 million weavers in Iran are engaged in manufacturing carpets for both, domestic and international markets.
