In the third quarter of this year, Saudi Kayan Petrochemicals Company is intending to start trial operations at its petrochemicals complex's main units.

Kayan is situated in Jubail and is a part of Saudi Basic Industries Corporation (SABIC). In the company statement, they have revealed that pre-commissioning work at the complex was already on schedule.

In the month of April, the company said that, the complex's key facility, an ethylene cracker, is soon to begin operations during the second half of this year, which will slowly be followed by other units 2012. Jubail per say, is a petrochemicals centre on the Gulf coast of top oil exporter, Saudi Arabia.

The complex is said to have a yearly production capacity of 6 million tons of petrochemicals including ethylene, propylene and ethylene glycol from 16 plants. The firm has also reduced its second-quarter overall loss to 1.8 million riyals from 6.5 million riyals in the corresponding period a year ago.
