An embroidered picture 'Coi Xua' of 5.5x31 metres has recently been introduced in Hanoi. This picture weighing 1.5 ton has been created by a company from Van Lam craft village, called the Coi Xua Handicraft and Export Company.

This picture is an output of the efforts made by around 100 artisans, who started creating it in 2009. It required around 250 kg of thread and about 170m2 of Italian wool to prepare.

The owner of the picture, Pham Thi Hoai hopes that, the picture will be put on view in Hanoi as a motif connecting the former capital city of Hoa Lu and the present capital Hanoi, since, it illustrates important historical events.

These historical events include former ancient capital of Hoa Lu under the reign of Dinh-Pre Le and Ly Dynasties, foundation of the Dai Co Viet, landscape of Hoa Lu with the temples of kings Dinh Tien Hoang and Le Dai Hanh, and Ly Thai To's decision to shift the capital city to Hanoi.

Secretary of the Hanoi City Party Committee, Pham Quang Nghi appreciated the great contribution of Hoa Lu embroiderers, during the introduction ceremony of Hanoi's millennium anniversary. The picture will be unveiled on August 16 at the Cultural Friendship Palace.
