Imports of textile machinery jump in Jiangsu province

Enterprises in Jiangsu province have shown increasing enthusiasm in introducing advanced textile machinery. In the first half of 2010, Jiangsu's enterprises imported US $554 million of textile machinery, up 93.18 percent year on year.
This was mainly due to the impact of improved textile market scenario. Jiangsu province, which is a big textile hub, witnessed a sharp decline in imports of textile machinery in 2009, due to the international financial crisis.
In the first half, Jiangsu imported $148 million of textile machinery from Japan, up 85.65 percent year on year; $226 million of textile machinery from Germany, up by 113.59 percent year on year, both of which accounted for 65.66 percent of the total imports.
Jiangsu's textile machinery imports are expected to maintain steady growth under the influence of continued improvement of domestic and international markets, expected appreciation of the Yuan and other factors.
