Punjab Technical University (PTU), Jalandhar, has recently announced that, with a view to present the textile industry with technical manpower, it would establish a top class textile institute in Barnala at an investment of Rs 1.5 billion.

PTU Chancellor, Dr Rajneesh Arora divulged that, they have acquired 20 acres of land at Sanghera village in Barnala from Punjab government to set up the institute. He added that a majority of the funds will flow from the university.

The university would associate with leading business groups like Vardhman, Trident, Nahar, Aarti and Saluja groups, who would endow the institute with their technical expertise.

He further elaborated that, a body partnering PTU, the textile industry and the State Government would be formed to administer the institute.

The industry would share the expertise it possesses, as also would assist them in structuring the courses and with selection and training of the faculties, he said.

He even mentioned that, the PTU would also tie up with the CII to impart practical training to the students who successfully complete their courses.
