Tunisia's textile-clothing sector on the rise

As noted in the recent edition of the economic bulletin of the Technical Textile Centre “CETTEX”, revival of the textile-clothing sector is definite depicting a rise of 5.6 percent in value and 8.3 percent in volume of the overall exchange revenues generated during past seven months, as compared to the corresponding period last year. The vigour of knitwear industry and performance of the textile industry together have shored up this hike.

The growth in textile-clothing industry was backed by performance depicted by the sector during last July, with a 10.8 percent rise in exports value worth 506 million Tunisian dinars (MTD), and a simultaneous hike of 17.9 percent in imports worth 300 MTD. The figures are a result of a comparative analysis of the period under consideration, over the corresponding period last year.

As regards the knitwear exports is still driving the industry to higher levels reporting a 10.3 percent rise in value and 14.7 percent hike in volume. Also, the Warp and weft clothes depicted an increment of 8.7 percent in value and 7.5 percent in volume.

The tee-shirts division portrayed most significant performances with 15.3 percent increase in value and 19.3 percent in volume, which was followed by the swim suits branch with 41 percent rise in value and volume.
