India will soon witness the establishment of exclusive retail outlets for jute as the National Jute Board of India (NJB) has proposed setting up of stores to exclusively sell diversified jute products of good quality, said Mr. Atri Bhattacharya, Secretary Jute Manufacturers Development Council (JMDC).
He stated this, during his inaugural speech for a three-day interactive session between suppliers of diversified jute products and potential buyers. The council, along with planning to set up jute retail outlets, is negotiating with the owners of shopping malls and big showrooms to open jute stores in their premises, he added.
JMDC is looking for supply managers as it intends to open six supply depots across India, soon to keep jute stocks, informed Mr. Bhattacharya. In addition to this, NJB is in the process of promoting Indian jute products on a wider scale.
Entrepreneurs involved in this sector from various states of the country are displaying variety of jute products such as furnishings, mats and carpets, fashion accessories, wall hangings, sacks and pouches, handicrafts, dolls, fancy jute bags.
