Jute Minister, Abdul Latif Siddique, recently said that, the Ministry intends to restart 11 jute mills by October.
The Minister while addressing a farmers' meet summoned by the Department of Agriculture Extension at Delduar Upazila, said that, recent plans for exporting jute-made pulp are also in progress.
He said that, whereas during the BNP-led government's tenure the losses totalled to Tk 4.5 to 5.7 billion each year, now it has gone down to Tk 70 million in the present government's term.
The Minister, who described the technique of peeling jute fibre with ribbon retting system as 'fruitful', said that it would be of help in producing superior quality fibres which would aid the farmers to make more money.
