The country's oldest mill, Raghupati Jute Mill has closed down recently, mentioning worker shortage as the reason. Moreover, the workers have given an ultimatum, to intensify the protest, to the management if it will not appoint required staff soon.

Due to workers relocating to other countries, around 10 jute mills in the Sunsari-Morang corridor are facing worker crunch. Officials of Raghupatti Jute Mills admitted that shortage of workers had caused the factory closure, but, factory operations will be resumed following the recruitment of required number of workers.

The workers accused the factory management, for exploiting them by assigning more and more work. The workers claimed that the management forced them to work over and above their normal capacity.
