Aug-30 deadline for registering textile units
26
Aug '10
All textile units across the country have been asked to get registered by 30th August to avail the benefit of every government scheme under new textile policy. The units, which remain unregistered after the deadline, will not be able to take advantage of any scheme under new textile policy.

Only registered textile units in the country would enjoy incentives announced in textile policy, under the Textile Act. The Textile Ministry of the country right now does not have complete information about country's textile units and their production capacity in order to chalk out plans to implement new textile policy.

Government's objective behind making registration of textile units mandatory is to implement new textile policy, improve the structure of textile industries and get complete data of all textile industries across the country. So far around 7,000 units have filled online registrations forms under the ongoing registration process.

However, this registration process have been rejected by the textile associations mentioning it as a complicated process as just 10 percent of the textile units have got registered till now and rest 90 percent have not received even registration forms.
