Night shift training for women in textile sector

Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal, through inauguration of two textile training camps at Mullanpur and Alamgir, has moved a step ahead in his efforts to facilitate women in the industry to work in night shift.

The government has teamed up with major industrial houses including the Vardhamn Group, Arihant Spinning Mills, Trident Group, Partap Spintex, Punjab Spintex and Radient Textile limited, to manage these camps.

The CM while referring to it as a move directed towards empowerment of women said that, women will be trained on various aspects of the textile industry to provide them better chances for employment in the sector.

Right now, the Department of Industries and Commerce together with other departments and the textile industry, has selected 31 locations in six districts of Ludhiana, Hoshiarpur, Sangrur, Barnala, Patiala and Bathinda, to organize such inspirational camps. While another five such training centres would be established in Alamgir, Ladhowal, Kohara, Samrala and Ludhiana in future.
