Juan Carlos Mathews, Peru's Tourism and Export Promotion Board's (PromPeru) Executive Director said that, backed by the rising demand from Asian and Latin American countries, Peru's handicraft exports is expected to surge by over seven percent to touch US $56 million by close of the year.
He said that, handicraft shipments too are seen growing at a pace of no less than 10 percent.
Also, against $50 million worth of exports during 2009, the country in the initial seven months of current year itself, exported handicrafts worth US$27 million.
United States, New Zealand, Germany, Italy, France, the United Kingdom, Spain and Australia are amongst the leading importers of handicrafts from Peru, the official said.
