Shankar-6 variety of cotton to be branded in global markets

With the intention of creating a common platform for cotton ginners across the country and deliberate on issues concerning the cotton sector, the Saurashtra Ginners Association (SGA) is hosting an all-India ginners meet in Rajkot, Gujarat on September 26.
Speaking to fibre2fashion, Mr Bharatbhai Vala, President of SGA said, “We are holding the annual general meeting of SGA, to which, we have also invited cotton ginners from Punjab, Haryana, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra and Karnataka”.
He added by saying, “We intend to create a common platform for all ginners from across India and also analyze the cotton crop production across India from the data put across by ginners associations from these cotton producing states.”
He further informed that they also intend to brand Shankar-6; the most exported variety of cotton from India and which is also grown in Gujarat only, on the lines done by US cotton growers, to increase the export prospects of the Shankar-6 variety.
