Henceforth, the 31-year-old 'South India Cotton Association' (SICA), for cotton mills, growers, traders and brokers in Coimbatore, will be identified as 'Indian Cotton Federation'.
The association wants to play a significant role in policy-related issues of the cotton industry, owing to the rapidly growing cotton scenario in India.
With the new name, it will bring all cotton-related activities on one stage and will strive to be an umbrella organization. Cotton associations of other states would also be included in the new federation.
Moreover, membership of the association would also be augmented. Decision to rename the association as well as to increase the scope of its activities had been taken in the month of January.
