Rieter Award 2010 – Prize Winners visit Switzerland

From 13 to 17 September 2010, the Rieter Award week was held in Winterthur for the 21st time. As is customary, also this year's Award winners were invited by Rieter to spend a week in Switzerland. The 2010 prize winners are: Ms. Ambigai Velusamy from India, Mr. Musa Kilic from Turkey, Mr. Abror E. Razikov from Uzbekistan, Mr. Qiang Li from China and Mr. Rully Setiadi from Indonesia. A varied and exciting week awaited the 2010 Rieter Award winners.

The official start to the week was created by the winners themselves with the presentation of their home countries, the universities attended and their student research projects. On the guided tour of the Rieter production facilities in Winterthur and the Automotive production works in Sevelen, the prize winners got to know Rieter's fundamental values and company culture more intimately. In addition, there were numerous opportunities to establish contact with management members and employees of Rieter.

Winners impressed
A trip to Stein am Rhein and the Rhine Falls during the week could definitely not be omitted. The Award winners were visibly impressed by the volume of water at the Rhine Falls. A visit to the show dairy in Stein, Appenzell was also a special experience; equally the trip to the Titlis in central Switzerland followed by a stroll around the town of Lucerne was one of the unforgettable highlights of the week. As the crowning finale of the Rieter Award week, on Friday evening the official presentation to the winners by the Head of Markets, Reto Thom, and the respective regional heads occupied an important place on the program. Saturday was then the day when the brand new members of the Rieter Award Club embarked on their home journeys.

The Rieter Award encourages young talents
Since 1989, the Rieter Award has been awarded every year to students and young professionals. With the attractive prize offered, Rieter encourages young talents and thereby also supports the universities and institutes in their efforts to recruit young people for textile training.

Selection of the Rieter Award winners is carried out in close cooperation with universities and professors worldwide. Those selected are students and young professionals from the field of textile engineering who have distinguished themselves by well-founded work and great commitment. For a nomination, a good knowledge of English is essential to equip the winners for the trip to Switzerland. Since its founding in 1989, 141 students have been admitted to the Rieter Award Club.
