State-of-art textile industrial zone to be set up

Egyptian Government has resolved to set up a state-of-the-art industrial zone for contemporary combined spinning and weaving industries in Kafr El Dawar. The area has been picked for several reasons like availability of skilled labour and above all its location, which is close to the Delta, Alexandria harbours.

The industrial zone is to come up on an area of 600 square meters, of which 430 square meters will be utilized for the purpose of industrial activities, whereas remaining 170 square meters would be utilized to set up warehouse and training centres.

Initially, only a sum of LE 500 million was sanctioned for setting up the industrial zone, but as the establishment work on an area of about 210 square meters that is, 50 percent of first phase is seeing its conclusion, the expenses have already reached LE 655 million.

The industrial zone all in all will have 45 plants, of which six plants have already gone operational, while 23 other are seen to go operational over the next two years. The 12 industrial projects would generate employment opportunities for around 15,000 people.

The government has already incurred expenditure to the tune of LE 250 million for developing infrastructural facilities like roads, water stations, sanitary drainage, electricity and tapping gas.
