New Minerva mill, a composite unit of National Textile Corporation, for spinning, weaving and producing garments at the Hassan SEZ is likely to become operational by month end. With the opening of such a composite unit, around 10,000 kg of yarn and 20,000 meters of fabric will be produced each day.

Out of 10,000 kg of yarn expected to be produced per day, the Corporation plans to export around 7,000 kg of yarn daily. The unit, which is the foremost unit of state-owned NTC that is situated in an SEZ, has been established to export shirts under NTC brand 'Entyce' in the US and European markets. These shirts are also sold in local markets by the state-run corporation through its retail outlets.

Apparel production is expected to start within six months after unit's opening, wherein 50,000 shirts are estimated to be produced daily. Currently, around 300 people have been roped in by the unit. It may hire more workers when it will start operating at its full capacity.
