Two closed jute factories to reopen soon

Oct '10
The government has taken all the necessary measures to reopen its two state-run jute factories within October, under a proposal to enhance the production of jute items.

The closed jute factories, which are soon going to be reopened, include the People's Jute Mill of Khulna and the Quaomi Jute Mill of Sirajganj.

Both the factories have already undergone the process of recruitment of workers and development of infrastructure.

In order to earn better revenue from the exports of jute products, the present government has taken a number of immediate measures to reopen the shutdown units.

The government has suggested a budget of about Tk 680 million for reopening the People's Jute Mill and Tk 360 million for the Quaomi Jute Mill.

The Bangladesh government has also decided to reopen the Adamji Jute Mill. Initially it will undertake the reopening of one of its five plants, involving a cost of around Tk 30 million.
