Kabrabam Leikai Handloom Cluster, which comes under the Ministry of Textiles (Handloom) Government of India, had organized a 15-day training programme on Dyeing and a 3-day managerial training programme on Handloom Cluster.

The concluding ceremony of the training programme was held at the THAU Sports Complex, where certificates were handed over to 81 handloom weavers who had participated in the training programme.

Radhabinod Koijam – the Chief Guest of the closing ceremony, said that handloom products have not been introduced in the state recently. The handloom products of Manipur are not just famous in India but they have also acquired international recognition.

He further pointed out that apart from Assam, the rest of the North-Eastern region has no industries. The various Self Help Groups (SHGs) and the handloom products have contributed in boosting the state's economy.

He also added that, SHGs functioning in the state should utilize the financial assistance extended by the government in such a way that it benefits the state.
