Investments in research and development as well as online sales have enabled a London-based family business – Cunningham Covers, to procure fresh contracts worth above £500,000. Cunningham Covers, which supplies textile products for transport, construction, environmental and recreation sectors, was established around 40 years ago in Maghera.
The Invest Northern Ireland had extended a financial support of £48,000 to the business, which was also partly sponsored by European Regional Development Fund, to promote research and product development, to enhance the quality and look of the firm's website as well as for starting an e-commerce portal.
The portal has significantly enhanced the revenue of the firm and helped it to procure a £70,000 deal in Angola. The firm will be providing an important petroleum producing company with high-quality UV protective tarpaulins to protect the pipe work from sunshine.
The firm has been producing slurry tank covers considering the forthcoming EU legislation which would require the slurry tank owners to have sealable covers.
It has also been engaged in research and development work for designing silo tank covers by using the recent technology.
