According to Kokab Parveen, executive member of the Women Chamber of Commerce and Industry, women in Pakistan are involved in variety of works other than the stitching apparels in the textile industry. Women constitute around 90 percent of the working population in garment production, handicraft and embroidery sectors.
Parveen said that, last time she had attended the exhibition with a team of another six women entrepreneurs, the group had registered record sales. Encouraged by the success of last time, 22 women entrepreneurs had applied for the visa this time. However, 21 applications were rejected due to the Commonwealth Games. This time, Kokab Parveen was the only participant from Pakistan to take part in the exhibition in Ludhiana.
Parveen believes that trade relations between both the countries can be enhanced to a great extent by simplifying the visa formalities.
